Assignment: decorate pavement tastefully with outdoor planters
The residents of a luxurious apartment block wanted to stop cars from parking in front of the building. The challenge was to produce a design that would be accepted by the municipality of Amsterdam. The design takes its visual cues from the existing planters. To interrupt the neat line of oblong planters, we selected two gracefully shaped, deep-red Domani pots as eye-catchers framing the entrance. The pots were filled with open-stemmed, overhanging shrubs with fan-shaped flowers and a beautiful autumnal colour. The high ornamental grass helps block the line of sight into the building but still gives a good view of the outside to those in the building. Following approval of the design, the municipality agreed to cooperate and the Owners Association was allowed to proceed. This fantastic result was achieved thanks to good collaboration between the client, Van Haneghem, and the municipality of Amsterdam.
