Assignment: Turn a desert into an oasis
It is difficult to design a garden for yourself and your family. Even so, I love this garden, which offers lots of room to play and emphasises greenery rather than flowering plants. A bare field has become a comfortable oasis.
We have experimented a lot. That is the advantage of working for yourself: you can unleash your creativity and make changes at will. Some areas were perfect from day one, whereas others needed more attention before we were satisfied.
The garden was designed first, so the house is modelled on its contours. The smooth transition from indoors to outdoors gives us the feeling of being in contact with our garden all year round.
